Finish-It-Up Fall! A Quilt Kit-Buster
with Slightly Biased Quilts

Do you have a growing collection of quilt kits that are just begging to be sewn? You’re not alone! Many quilters find themselves drawn to the beautiful fabrics and coordinated colors in pre-cut kits, but sometimes those kits end up languishing on a shelf.

This quilt-along is your chance to dust off those quilt kits and turn them into stunning finished quilts! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be working together to sew through our stashes, block by block. Whether you have a single kit or a whole shelf full, you’re welcome to join in.

Join us for Finish-It-Up Fall! A Quilt Kit-Buster, hosted by Slightly Biased Quilts! This quilt-along will go through 10 weeks in the fall of 2024. You’ll get to pick a kit that you have on hand, or go shopping for a new quilt kit, and sew along with a whole host of quilters!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Gather your supplies: This is the perfect time to dig into your stash! Choose a quilt kit that speaks to you. If you don’t have a kit, don’t worry! You can make your own kit from your stash or even purchase a new kit. (Kits from Slightly Biased Quilts will earn you double entries in the giveaways! And they’re on sale for quilt-along members!) In addition to the kit, you’ll need basic quilting supplies like thread, rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, and sewing machine.

  2. Follow along: Each week, we’ll email to check in and see how you’re doing! If there are any techniques that you’re struggling with, this is where you can reach out and ask for help.

  3. Share your progress: The quilting community thrives on encouragement and inspiration! Join our online FB group to share photos of your progress, ask questions, and get feedback from fellow quilters.

Benefits of a Quilt-Along:

  • Stay motivated: Sewing alongside others can help you stay focused and on track to finish your quilt.
  • Learn new techniques: Our quilt-along will gather a variety of piecing and quilting technique resources, making it a great learning experience for quilters of all skill levels.
  • Reduce your stash: Let’s face it, we all have a tendency to collect more fabric than we can sew in a lifetime. This quilt-along is a great way to put those beautiful fabrics to good use.
  • Have fun! Quilting is a fun and rewarding hobby. Sewing along with a group can make it even more enjoyable.

Best of all, this quilt-along is free! And not only that, but we’re going to have giveaways and Zoom sewing time too! We will use the hashtags #finishitupfall and #quiltkitbuster on Instagram, along with a member Facebook group, to post our progress and cheer each other on!

We’d love for you to join us on this quilting adventure! To sign up and get access to the quilt-along group, follow us on Instagram (@slightlybiasedquilts) or Facebook.

Quilt-Along FAQ

When does the Quilt-Along (QAL) start?
We’ll kick off September 2nd, running for 10 weeks and finishing November 11, 2024. The schedule is listed out above!

What kit can I use?
Any kit you want! It can be a Slightly Biased Quilt kit, or any other kit that you have on hand. The goal is to use up some of your stash, so pick a kit you have on hand if you are able to!

Can I get a new kit?
Absolutely! Feel free to shop for a new kit for the quilt-along. We have Slightly Biased Quilts kits available for a discount for members of the quilt-along too! Check out some of our recommendations here.

What if I need to learn how to (insert quilting skill here) to make my kit?
That’s great! We’ll have a big group of quilters who can advise and help, and we can gather resources from across the quilting community to support each other during the quilt-along.

What if I get behind the schedule?
That’s ok! There is a week built in for catch-up, and some weeks may not apply to your quilt kit. With ten full weeks, there should be plenty of time to finish your quilt kit top!

What are the giveaways for participating in the QAL?
You can find all the sponsors and prizes here!

How will the giveaways work?
Weeks 2, 6, 8, and 10 will have giveaways associated with finishing that week’s task. You’ll get an entry for posting your completed task for the week in the Facebook group, and your entry will be doubled if you’re making a kit from Slightly Biased Quilts!

How do I get the discount on your kits?
Use the code “quiltkitbuster” in the Slightly Biased Quilts shop for 20% off all kits!
