Hi everyone! Welcome to month 2 of the Cider Mill BOM. Today we’re going to work on blocks 5 and 9 of the pattern.

Start by gathering your medium orange, light yellow, and your white scraps from last month. Cut out the required squares as detailed in the pattern.

Next we’re going to make some half square triangles (HSTs) using your larger squares. Mark the white square down the diagonal with a marking pen and sew 1/4″ away from the line on each side.

Cut on the diagonal to separate into two pieces, and then press open.

Next you’ll need to trim your HSTs using your favorite method. My favorite tool is the June Tailor Perfect HST & QST Trimmer!

Now you can lay out your orange block (Block 5) and sew together, sewing together rows first:

Next, lay out your yellow block (Block 9) and sew together in the same manner:
