slightly biased quilts

One of my favorite parts of designing quilt patterns is watching them come to life in different fabrics. Recently, I planned to create a second sample of my Butterfly Blooms quilt pattern, and this time, we reached for the luminous Starry fabric collection by Alexa Abegg for Ruby Star Society. The results? Pure magic!

Starry is a whimsical, celestial collection with twinkling stars, delicate textures, and rich hues. Its dreamy quality felt like a perfect match for the Butterfly Blooms pattern, which celebrates movement and lightness through its fluttering butterfly-inspired blocks.

The blend of deep, moody tones and soft, glowing accents in Starry brought a whole new personality to the quilt. It’s a reminder of how fabric choices can transform a design, infusing it with fresh energy and making it uniquely yours.

If you’ve been thinking about making your own Butterfly Blooms quilt, let this new sample inspire you to experiment with bold, unexpected fabrics. Whether you choose something celestial like Starry or stick to more traditional prints, your unique choices will make it your own.
